Lakeside

Lake Macquarie is the largest salt water lake in the southern hemisphere, twice the size of the Sydney Harbour. The lake is perfect for boating, kayaking, paddleboarding or fishing and has a number of walking trails, parks and cycling paths.

Swansea

Located at the mouth of the lake that connects it to the sea, Swansea is a small city centre with everything you need to enjoy a day out. The Swansea Bridge is the centrepiece of the town, allowing boats in and out of the lake. There is a great cycling path that runs along the foreshore, with scenic views the whole way along perfect for walking or riding a bike. We would recommend enjoying a coffee and breakfast on the lake at Tides Cafe (2 Belmont St, Swansea) or a meal at Seed Cafe (4/204 Pacific Hwy, Swansea). There are also public pools open during the summer season. You can also skydive at Lake Macquarie Airport or enjoy a helicopter joy ride to soak in the amazing views from above (864 Pacific Hwy, Marks Point).

Belmont is located on the Eastern side of the lake and the sailing capital of Lake Macquarie. With shopping centres, foreshore reserves, restaurants and more. it is the place to go if you are looking somewhere to enjoy a special meal, an afternoon beer or wine watching the sunset or a stroll along the water. There are plenty of great fishing spots and the recently reopened Belmont Baths are a great safe place to swim for children. Enjoy a game of golf at the spectacular coastal golf course (801 Pacific Hwy, Marks Point) or enjoy a walk or birdwatching along the Fernleigh Track. Belmont 16 Footer Sailing Club is a great place to enjoy a meal on the large deck over looking the water, or the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club does an amazing seafood platter (Ada St, Belmont).
